Distribution happens on a Friday afternoon once a month, year-round, in the Randolph bus loop. Each pantry day needs about a dozen volunteers across a few different roles, so there's something for you whether you have two hours or an afternoon.
Plan to be on your feet the whole shift, dress for the weather, and bring a water bottle. Some roles involve lifting boxes up to 30 lbs — if that's not for you, there's plenty of bagging and table work. Spanish speakers are especially welcome; please let us know when you sign up.
Shifts
Costco run
1:00 – 3:00pmPurchase food from our shopping list (reimbursed) and deliver it to the school by 3pm. Requires a vehicle with cargo room.
Neighborhood pickup
2:10 – 4:00pmCollect donated food from a nearby house, drop it at Randolph, then stay to help with setup.
Setup and first distribution
2:30 – 4:00pmMove boxes, bag produce, and organize food on the tables. This is the busiest shift, as families arrive right at dismissal.
Distribution and cleanup
4:00 – 6:00pmServe families, keep tables stocked, and move remaining food back into the school at the end. Heaviest lifting is on this shift.
Age and Privacy
Volunteers must be 16 or older. Because this is a school-based pantry, the families we serve are our neighbors and our children's classmates. We ask every volunteer to treat who they see at the pantry as private — what happens in the bus loop stays in the bus loop.
